Professional Plastics Engineering Manager in Orchard Park, New York

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: includes the following, as well as other duties that may be assigned. • Runs continuous improvements plans/projects to KPI’s, set up times, FTR, MTBF • Ensures the quality of products meets all specifications • Analyzes and designs lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize use of space, equipment, material and personnel • Stays informed on new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies • Creates job travelers and manufacturing operations from material and hardware to outside process • Creates technical drawings, manufacturing schematics, and 2D and 3D digital models of • mechanical equipment designs, using measurements, specifications and additional data from engineering team • Collects initial drawings and combines all relevant data into coherent and complete initial design models for review and modification • Coordinates directly with project managers to understand project requirements, verify design details and recommend modifications as needed according to company standards and best practices • Annotates and verifies all numerical designations and specifications in technical drawings and schematics, using both CAD programs and manual calculations when necessary • Communicates with manufacturing team to create detailed layouts prior to production; assists in designing, creating and testing production parts • Provides support to engineering team as needed by creating technical drawings and digital models within deadlines; utilizes multiple methods to ensure deliverables include all relevant design details • Assists in ongoing projects to standardize and unify design document standards by participating in meetings and preparing presentation materials as necessary Education/Experience: • Proficiency in Solidworks • 5+ years Mastercam experience • Experience with mechanical manufacturing process and CNC setup • College or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Equal Opportunity Employer: Disability/Veteran Job Type: Full-time
