CESA #6 Custodian / Maintenance Assistant in OSHKOSH, Wisconsin

SUMMARY: The Custodian/Maintenance Assistant provides custodial services throughout the CESA 6 facilities on a regular schedule consisting of a conference center, two alternative education sites, and two community-based education sites. This position is essential in order for CESA 6 to provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment to those it serves and its employees. Specific responsibilities include sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, auto scrubbing, and waxing floors; scrubbing walls and fixtures; emptying waste receptacles; replenishing supplies; shoveling snow; and performing other related cleaning duties. Regular deep cleaning and other miscellaneous projects will also be completed over the calendar year. This position works primarily second shift hours Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. During the months of June, July, and August the hours will be first shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The Custodian/Maintenance Assistant directly reports to the agency\'s operations manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Empties cleans, and lines waste and recycling receptacles. Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing hard-surfaced floors. Vacuum rugs, and carpets and occasionally clean and shampoo them. Cleans and disinfects restrooms. Cleans meeting rooms, classrooms, cafeterias, multi-purpose rooms, offices, and related facilities. Cleans walls, windows, sills, shelves, boards, trays, light covers, etc. Washes windows, interior glass, and mirrors. Dusts, waxes, and polishes furniture and woodwork. Unlocks and locks doors and gates and turns lights on and off. Replenishes restroom supplies. Restocks janitorial and cleaning supplies; stores cleaning equipment and supplies; assists in the inventory of cleaning and related supplies by monitoring quantity and reporting supply amounts to leads as required. Maintains facility security during a work shift. Observes and reports needed repairs, and/or sanitary and safety hazards, reporting hazards and deficiencies to the facilities coordinator as needed. Assists with the set-up and arrangement and/or take down of furniture and facilities for meetings, and special events. Assists with performing a variety of general maintenance, painting, basic carpentry, and basic plumbing tasks during the summer months, working under the direction of the facilities coordinator. Maintains a neat and orderly janitor\'s room; ensures cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked. Assists in examining facilities for safety hazards; reports deficiencies to the facilities coordinator. OTHER FUNCTIONS: Assists with performing a variety of general maintenance, painting, basic carpentry, and basic plumbing tasks during the summer months, working under the direction of the facilities coordinator. Performs limited grounds maintenance such as mowing and trimming lawns and hedges and cleaning snow from sidewalks. May move and arrange furniture and equipment. Loads unloads, picks up, and delivers parcels, food, and supplies as assigned. Read and write at the level required for successful job performance. Use and care for tools. Work on your own initiative without close supervision. Perform arithmetic calculations at the level necessary for satisfactory job performance. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Ability to work independently as well as to collaborate with diverse work teams. Ability to maintain a positive attitude. Communicate effectively and timely, verbally and in writing. Work Environment: This position requires traveling between multiple CESA 6 facilities during the work day. Ability to work in a flexible work environment, based on programming needs.
