Senior Design Engineer R31703

The Sr. Engineer - Mechanical will design, test, and implement new innovative designs into the Oshkosh S-Series Front Discharge Mixer. You will have the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in design, analysis, and project management while supporting the full product lifecycle of the S-Series vehicle.

YOUR IMPACT:

  • Perform engineering analysis to support the selection and design of parts, components, and materials that meet vehicle and performance requirements.

  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, and cost.

  • Create engineering layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.

  • Create and communicate test requirements to test engineers, facilitate prototype/vehicle testing, and analyze results.

  • Participate in the development of a physical prototype(s).

  • Provide engineering support for production and/or service when required, and root causing issues reported.

  • Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.

  • Responsible for managing multiple projects of varying complexity including developing project schedules and providing status reports to management

  • Provide guidance or mentorship to entry level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.

  • Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues.

  • Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards.

  • Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.

  • Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to calculate or model system performance and optimize designs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Regular attendance is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.

  • Experience with a high level CAD system.
