Job Title: Sr. Designer

Job Description

The Sr. Designer is responsible for guiding and executing the translation of ideas, rough sketches, and specifications from customer/sales personnel and the engineering team into workable plans used in fabrication, assembly, and installation of products. This role involves using CAD software to design detailed and accurate concept, assembly, and detail drawings, creating bills of materials, preparing submittal and installation print drawing packages for customers, and providing support during the installation process. Additionally, the Sr. Designer will apply industry standards, provide quality control checks, and train and mentor junior designers.

Hard Skills

  • Minimum Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design or related engineering field

  • Minimum 5 years experience

  • Experience with Inventor or Solidworks

  • Experience with 2D & 3D design

  • Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/DFA), Weldments

  • Experience with gauge steel, plated steel, sheet metal design/fabrication

  • Experience with various metal fabrication processes and equipment such as CNC lasers, punch presses, bending

  • Experience with structural design

Soft Skills

  • Problem-solving skills

  • Ability to provide support and troubleshoot

  • Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Skill and assessment to plan and accomplish goals

Work Environment

The position is within the Design Engineering Team, supporting Industrial Systems and Aerospace groups. The company designs and fabricates large paint booths for multiple industries, including Aerospace, Heavy Truck, Industrial Systems, Ovens/Heating, and Refinishing.
