Position Summary: JCCC is looking for applicants for a part-time astronomy position in the Astronomy Department. The ideal candidate would be expected to instruct students in lecture and/or lab for either Fundamentals of Astronomy or Astronomy. The ideal candidate would need to be able to teach face-to-face and/or online starting in Jan 2025 for the spring semester. Ideally, the candidate will be able to teach MWF 11:00-11:50 am and/or potentially online. All applications must be be submitted to the JCCC jobs portal.
Required Qualifications:
- Master\'s degree with 18 graduate hours in Astronomy or Physics.
- Computer literacy including ability to communicate and develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the use of appropriate computer software.
- Demonstrate fluency in written and oral communications.
- Demonstrate familiarity with the use and care of telescopes and related equipment.
- One year of college-level teaching experience in astronomy or physics is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master\'s or Doctorate degree in Astronomy or Physics.
- Three years college level teaching experience in astronomy or physics is preferred.
- Community college teaching experience in astronomy or physics is preferred.
