Actalent Transportation Engineer in Overland Park, Kansas

Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roadway, transportation, and traffic engineering design, with experience in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software. This role involves project management, design, and client relationship development.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare reports, studies, proposals, blogs, and journal articles.

  • Develop project scope and fees.

  • Manage accounting for individual project tasks, including scheduling, scope, role, and budget.

  • Track and meet task budgets and schedules.

  • Contribute to business development efforts.

  • Understand and meet internal and external customer needs and expectations.

  • Perform and occasionally direct project design, including engineering calculations and using computer design software.

  • Collect and assemble complex project data.

  • Prepare complex project documents, including specifications and bid documents.

  • Conduct complex drawing reviews to ensure plans are clear, concise, and thorough.

  • Prepare quantity takeoffs.

  • Handle project documentation.

  • Conduct complex site observations and report existing conditions.

Essential Skills

  • Roadway design

  • Transportation engineering

  • Highway design

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D

  • Transportation design

  • Traffic engineering

  • Experience with Microstation

  • 3+ years of related design experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in MO or KS (preferred)

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong technical background in design

  • Experience in project management

  • Ability to foster client relationships

  • Excellent communication skills

Work Environment

Our office operates Monday through Friday with flexible working hours. The position may require additional work outside of regular hours as necessary to meet project demands. We are a women-owned firm with approximately 40 staff members, ranging from surveying, CAD design, and engineering.
