Our team in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Senior Design Engineer whowill manage and facilitate major new product development, product improvement and cost reduction projects through creative project leadership, evaluation of customer requirements, concept development, and product design. This position is also responsible for research of new technology and materials in support of innovative designs for meeting customer requirements. At a minimum, you'll need: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering Five (5) years of progressive product engineering experience Proficiency with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software including solid modeling Knowledge of the basic materials and processes used in industry with emphasis on new technology developments It'd be great if you also have: SolidWorks experience Proficiency with finite element analysis (FEA) software and stress calculations Ability to conceptualize, formulate design possibilities and coordinate development by the project team under time and financial constraints Commitment to effective project leadership, coordination, and evaluation, with recommendations for changes required to improve overall results Music or theater background or interest As a Senior Design Engineer, a typical day might include: Providing effective leadership to multifunctional project teams both individually and collectively to help accomplish the goals of the project and stimulate growth of the team's capabilities Stimulating generation and development of effective ideas for new products, product improvements and cost reductions to provide the best possible product for our customers Conducting engineering analysis with respect to strength calculations, design layout, fits and tolerances and solid modeling Conducting Design Reviews, Drawing Reviews, DFMEA's, DFM and Design Validation as part of new product development Conducting accelerated product life cycle tests, evaluates field testing and potential misuse of all products to provide a long and safe service life for the end user Providing complete and well documented product specifications, working closely with Engineering Services, Manufacturing Engineer, Marketing Manager, Unit Manager, Industrial Engineer, Planner and Quality Control Providing support for development of new manufacturing processes Providing support for Project Engineering with product information and documentation requirements for new products and technical support for product customizations Preparing recommendations with supporting logic for product changes that will improve sales potential and/or reduce cost Providing technical writing support and editing of service manuals, assembly, and operating instructions Coordinating and executing with other departments product development tasks including: Product design including necessary calculations Design Reviews Design Validation Design Failure Modes Effects Analysis (DFMEA's) Design for Manufacturability (DFM) Design cost analysis Prototype development Accelerated product life cycle tests (including environmental testing) Design specification development - engineering specifications Early concept development documentation for Engineering Services Preproduction support Field testing (beta sites) Materials acquisition Tooling acquisition Ben fit offerings include: Paid Time Off 9 Paid Holidays Generous Profit Sharing Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Spending Accounts - HSA, FSA, DCFSA Company Paid Short-term and Long-term Disability Insurance 401k Retirement Plan with Company Match Company Paid Life Insurance Supplemental Life Insurance Employee Assistance Program Put your passion to work in an exciting, rewarding industry that inspires innovation today!
