This Position is for a Visiting Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Law with a public university work location in University, MS.

Position Description

The University of Mississippi School of Law invites applications and nominations for visiting professors during the 2025-2026 academic year. Depending on the courses being taught, the University is flexible regarding one semester (fall or spring) or full academic-year visitorships. Appointments will be at the rank of visiting assistant, visiting associate, or visiting full professor depending on experience.

Alternatively, the University of Mississippi School of Law also invites applications and nominations for the VAP program. VAPs spend four semesters (Fall 2025 through Spring 2027) in residence at the law school, gaining both teaching experience and the opportunity to devote substantial time to research, writing, and other scholarly pursuits. VAPs are given the opportunity to present work in progress to the Law School faculty and, more generally, to receive feedback and mentoring from faculty members in preparation for the academic job market. Course loads and teaching schedules are devised with sensitivity to the timing of the job market process.

Minimum Qualifications

A candidate must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school and a commitment to teaching in an environment dedicated to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students. We look for innovative faculty with a preference for both practice and teaching experience. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to service to legal education and to the wider community as well as a desire to engage in the intellectual life of the Law School.
