University of Mississippi Waste Diversion Coordinator / University, MS in Oxford, Mississippi
This Position is for a Waste Division Coordinator with a public university work location in University, MS.
Definition of Class
This position coordinates, monitors, and supports existing recycling and composting programs by responding to departmental requests for assistance with recycling inventory, managing and prioritizing communications with facilities administrators, managing student staff, and in purchasing materials and supplies. Incumbent will also support the strategic University recycling initiatives by researching, developing and implementing modifications to improve institutional waste diversion effectiveness.
Examples of Work Performed
Monitors and responds to reports of issues and recycling bin requests.
Maintains data on waste diversion and emissions reductions from waste diversion practices
Maintains inventories and an updated map of campus facilities equipped with recycling services
Conducts waste characterization studies, waste audits, and cost-savings analyses related to institutional waste streams
Updates and maintains recycling bin signage on campus
Advises on necessary purchases and recycling budgets; documents and maintains reporting on purchases
Performs departmental pickup services on a limited, as needed basis
Maintains effective communications with facilities staff and recycling partners about recycling procedures and updates
Implements outreach and engagement activities around waste reduction
Provides quality customer service and support to all internal and external stakeholders
Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures related to recycling and waste diversion services
Manages and recruits student staff of the Green Grove program in partnership with Ole Miss Athletics and Landscape Services
Manages and recruits student staff of the Compost Collective program in partnership with Ole Miss Dining.
Provides education on proper disposal of recycling
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to the following.
Manages the daily operations related to waste diversion services for faculty, staff, and students.
Serves as a liaison between the department and internal/external stakeholders.
Provides supervision, guidance and training to support staff/students.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
AND
Experience:
1 year of experience related to the duties described above
Substitution Statement:
Related experience may be substituted for education on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
