ARAMARK Interpretive Programs Manager - Asilomar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove, California

Job Description

Primary scope of responsibilities for the Interpretive Programs Manager is to manage all facets of the interpretive program for Asilomar Conference Grounds. Secondary responsibilities may include supporting interpretive programming and initiatives for the West District of Aramark Destinations (California Coast, Lake Tahoe, and Wyoming). Interpretive programs within the West District represent a significant component of its Environmental Management System (EMS), and are managed in a manner that supports and enhances each location?s EMS. Both internal and external messaging assistance may be required as a part of this position. This position implements interpretive planning and development efforts providing the framework for effective interpretive training for all customer service, cultural and interpretive positions, to defined standards.

COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position ranges from $70,000 to $85,000, depending on circumstances including an applicant?s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). This is Aramark?s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

Oversee the design, organization, direction and/or conduct interpretive and appropriate level natural history training programs for Asilomar Conference Grounds and other West District Properties.

Oversee the direction and provision of appropriate training and development for various interpretive programs.

Collaborate with the VPO and District/General Managers to develop and implement or update Interpretive Planning programs.

Develop any plans and signage in a manner consistent with CA State Parks, NPS, and Forest Service Operating Plans, Mission Statements, and Wildlife Management Programs.

Provide supervision in the form of auditing and coaching for interpretive staff and naturalists.

Manage interpretive development plans.

Collaborate and present to location clients.

Interpretive design and planning projects will be assigned as required to support the products the concession provides.

Support external interpretive planning, design or training efforts and projects as assigned.

Employee is responsible for general knowledge of corporate environmental policies and procedures and how they relate to their job functions.

Employee is responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position.

Job-specific environmental aspects, impacts, objectives, and targets will be communicated by VPO, District/General Managers, and Departments Heads.

Employee will be aware of environmental objectives and targets within their department and how the objectives and targets affect their job performance.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree (Masters preferred) in the natural sciences, interpretation or communications.

Proven ability in interpretive planning, budget management and analysis, and interpretive program development.

Previous experience as an interpreter with a demonstrated knowledge.

Demonstrated ability to develop interpretive themes from factual natural and human history.

Current or willing to obtain Certified Interpretive Trainer and or Planner status with the National Association for Interpretation.

Minimum of 2 years experience in managing, training and coaching personnel.

Demonstrated knowledge of sub-arctic ecosystems and cultures.

Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office (mainly Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point) and PC based-computer systems.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Current drivers license with clean driving record.

Previous experience in Living History and Cultural Interpretation strongly preferred.

Previous experience in the hospitality/tourist industry a plus.

Education

Masters preferred
