Position Overview :

To provide leadership and business direction for the manufacturing of an entire area of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics) boat production processes. This includes Gel Coat, Lamination, Trim & Grind, Finishing and Mold Repair. The Senior Production Manager position will have responsibility for the safety, quality, delivery and cost of all boat models assigned to their area and will be ultimately responsible for all facets of manufacturing.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for maintaining and understanding Key Performance Indicators through root cause analysis and action planning

  • Develop and implement process improvements that will drive critical metrics in the safety, quality, delivery and cost categories

  • Select and develop employees in order to achieve our goals and objectives.

  • Participate in strategic planning for the responsible portfolio to include new product development

  • Improve manufacturing quality results by recommending new process; implementing changes; contributing information and opinions within and across internal staff from other departments

  • Provide day to day oversight by reviewing, summarizing and communicating production data and trends

  • Maintain leadership training for direct reports to include succession planning for all production managers, supervisor and group leader level positions

  • Ensure products are produced with the highest quality and meet engineering specifications.

  • Maintain a visual tiered reporting system for communication up and down the chain

  • Provide weekly updates for business performance to goals

  • Manage and maintain a budget to include capital budgets as well as weekly/monthly operating budgets

  • Ensuring best practices of Production Managers and Supervisors are in alignment with SOPs and that SOPs accurately reflect the business requirements

  • Ability to understand and execute all relevant policies and procedures in a consistent, timely and objective manner

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years in leadership position in a production environment

  • Green Belt or higher Certification in a Lean Six Sigma related discipline

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and analytical skills.

  • Ability to effectively coach, present information, and respond to questions from management, inter-department staff, customers, and suppliers in a proactive and constructive manner

  • Must be able to mentor and develop individuals and teams including both first and second level salaried employees.

  • Time management skills

  • Bachelors degree or higher required

  • Green Belt or higher Certification in a Lean Six Sigma related discipline
