Thompson Palm Springs is nowrecruiting for a vibrant Sous Chef to join the hotel’s pre-openingCulinaryteam. Thompson Palm Springs is the desert’s most exciting destination tailored for influential locals and sophisticated globetrotters alike. Situated at the heart of the city’s iconic Palm Canyon Drive, the hotel will offer a collection of 168 bungalow-inspired guest rooms and suites coupled with our total event space of 8,000 square feet plusadditionaloutdoor and unique spaces. Thompson Palm Springs will also house its own mainstay dining concept that will feed into the menus at two bespoke pools andaccompanyinglounges. an impressive array of ground-level retail space spanning over30,000-square-feet, guests will also have access toa state-of-the-artfitness center and a first-of-its-kind tasting room from HALL Napa Valley, withadditionaltenants to follow.

The goal of the Sous Chef is to manage a specific department and work with the Executive Chef and/or Executive Sous Chef to create, implement andmaintainquality standards. In someinstances, the Sous Chef will be expected toberesponsible forthe entire operation in the absence of the Executive Sous Chef and/or Executive Chef. The ideal Sous Chef willaccomplishtheir tasks bymonitoringthe daily functions of the culinary department, including providing supportand guidance to the culinary team, ending in a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities include:

· Support senior leadership by developing and assuming basic managementresponsibilities

· Assume the role of liaison between all departments within the culinary division and all other hoteldepartments

· Supervise the preparation and cooking of various fooditems

· Develop and implement creative menu items that adhere to Hyatt brandstandards

· Plan, coordinate & implementspecial eventsand holidayfunctions

· Manage hourly kitchen employees through scheduling, payroll, training, coaching,evaluatingandhiring

· May manage other key culinary leadership rolls including supervisor and other less senior Sous Chefs

· Lead and coach the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfactionresults

· Monitor food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistencyon a dailybasis

· Ensure proper safety and sanitation of all kitchen facilities andequipment

T he annual salary range for this position is $ 66,560 to $ 78,700. This is the salary range for this position that Thompson Palm Springs reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors including experience, and education.

Qualifications:

· In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations

· Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills

· Experience with training, basic financial management and customer service

· Proficient in general computer knowledge

· A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced customer service environment

· Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner

· Strong training and communication skills

· Culinary education and/or on the job training, hotel experience preferred

· Geographic and schedule flexibility preferred
