Defense Contract Management Agency IT Specialist (Network/CustSpt) in Palmdale, California

Responsibilities Serves as primary network administrator for various classified and unclassified Local Area Networks. Provides technical advice and training for application and equipment implementation. Diagnoses system failures to isolate the source of the problem. Serves as the senior IT Specialist for a DCMA hub site. Resolves end-user problems on a variety of IT systems, including telecommunications, cryptographic equipment, computer hardware, and software applications. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications To qualify for an IT Specialist (Network/Customer Support), your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in, or related to, this position. To qualify for the NH-03 level, specialized experience must be at the NH-02 or GS-11 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Creditable specialized experience includes: Providing user assistance in diagnosing a broad range of operating system, software, and network-related issues; Installing and updating network, software, and hardware components; and Advising management on security protocols to maintain system compliance and prevent unauthorized access. AND For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level. Selectee may be required to serve a trial/probationary period. Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized at Management's discretion. Obligated Position: This is an obligated position and occupancy is subject to the return of former incumbent. If former incumbent fails to return to the position, occupancy may become permanent. For current permanent DCMA employees eligible as a Promotion, this position will be filled as a Temporary Promotion NTE (2 Years) and may be extended up to a total of five years or converted to a permanent promotion without further competition. For current permanent DCMA employees eligible as a Reassignment, this position will be filled as a Reassignment or Detail and you may be granted Administrative Return Rights to your previous position. For all others, if selected, this would be a Time- Limited Appointment NTE (2 Years), and extended in increments of up to one year, NTE a total of six years. The selected applicant will be required to sign a written agreement acknowledging the conditions of this temporary assignment and that they may be released from this position upon management discretion. Information Assurance (IA) Position: This position requires professional certification under DoD Directive 8570.1, "Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management level." Per the Directive's implementing manual, DoD 8570.1-M, "Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program," personnel selected for this position will be required to be certified within six months of the appointment date. The requirement is DoD Directive 8140.03 and the Certification level minimum is IAT II. Telework: Ad Hoc telework only due to the classified nature of work being performed. This position may become permanent prior to the expiration of the NTE.
