HP Inc. Executive Protection Advisor in Palo Alto, California

The Executive Protection Advisor is responsible for physical security, risk identification, and mitigation for HP. Reporting to the Director of Executive Protection, the candidate will coordinate executive protection efforts as outlined in HP's Executive Protection strategy and work closely with regional teams for planning and execution. Wide-ranging knowledge on relevant subject matters including protective intelligence, surveillance technologies, theories, and techniques. A successful candidate must have exceptional written and oral communications skills, take initiative, be a fast learner, and be a highly motivated user of digital tools to accomplish objectives. The Executive Protection Manager will manage large events, cross-division functional teams or projects that affect the organization's long-term goals and objectives. Routinely exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques, and criteria for achieving objectives. Acts as a functional manager within area of expertise but does not manage other employees as a primary job function.

Responsibilities:

o Provides close protection of executive members including developing, assessing, and implementing protection strategies and plans

o Provides guidance and interpretation about security standards, practices, and programs to support regional and global business and security initiatives

o Assesses security exposures and implements programs to address them, influencing stakeholders and clients as required

o Partakes in continuous Executive Protection training

o Maintains liaison with government, industry, and intelligence professionals

o Brief Executives on geopolitical developments, incidents and trends that could affect the HP business and personnel

o Traveling nationwide and internationally, as necessary

o Frequent overnight and weekend travel

o Responds to security emergencies

o Travels up to 50% in the initial stages of training and assimilation

Minimum Qualifications:

o First-level university degree in Criminal Justice, Security, Law Enforcement or a related field of study, or equivalent experience

o 10+ years security experience, including associations in law enforcement, military, intelligence and/or corporate experience. Must include small detail, event security, and budget management

o Federal Government experience and accreditations are required

o Possesses EP training and experience in the following specialties: team member, detail leader, primary and secondary vehicle driver (including armored vehicles), medical (First Aid, CPR, AED) and protective intelligence

o Experience managing security details in domestic and international locations, both low and high risk

o Eligible to obtain a Federal Air Marshal Service Armed Security Officer (ASO) certification

o Operational understanding and fluent usage of today's technology tools across all platforms (PC, tablet, smartphone-smartwatch, radio, satellite, tracking device, etc.)

o Must maintain up-to-date driver's license

o Valid up-to-date passport

o Ability to interact with senior management

o Be a poised leader and collaborator who gains support from all levels of the organization, including senior executives

o Excellent follow-up skills with attention to detail and ability to multi-task, have leadership presence, strong team-orientation and interpersonal skills, flexibility, and strong analytical skills

Knowledge and Skills:

o Sound, ethical judgment required

o Strong leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and teaching

o Superior ability to use security systems and applications

o Excellent analytical skills. Ability to identify complex security issues and customize, implement/execute innovative processes and solutions

o Demonstrate ability to perform under pressure in complex situations

o Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including presentation, reporting, and consulting

o Thorough knowledge of criminal and civil procedure as it relates to evidence, privacy, interviewing, breach of contract, fraud, supply chain and intellectual property protection

o Proven "customer service" and relationship management skills

o Excellent project management skills, including planning, execution, and implementation.

o Strong business and financial acumen

o Abreast of industry and technology changes to ensure security programs minimize emerging risks. Established range of professional contacts. Familiar with the range of professional security literature

o Practical knowledge of the current security environment in multiple geographies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is $139,100 - $220,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
