OVERVIEW:

Supports administration of deal flow management and analysis of market and competitor activity through market research and due diligence.

 

SCOPE:

Supports defined region in conjunction with the AVMCC team. Focus is on start-ups in high-growth sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Robotics, Data Storage, Semiconductors, Fintech, Cybersecurity, Foodtech, Enterprise Software, and Deep Tech.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Market Research

  • Performs market research to help identify new investment trends and opportunities in the venture capital sector in US.

  • Performs mapping of startup activity, competitive landscapes and market trends in specified industry subsectors. (30%)

  • Due Diligence

  • Gathers information from target companies and industry experts.

  • Researches potential competitors to target companies.

  • Conducts background checks on the current management of the target company.

  • Supports valuation analysis through financial modeling.

  • Performs data room reviews and maintains due diligence tracking.  (25%)

  • Reporting & Documentation

  • Summarizes call notes and enter deals into deal flow management system.

  • Helps prepare internal investment memos.

  • Supports periodic reporting on performance of fund and direct venture capital investments.

  • Ensures transaction documents are on file and maintained. (20%)

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

     

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance disciplines from a leading university.  Developing knowledge of core concepts in competitive and market strategy, technology commercialization, intellectual property, financial analysis, investment analysis, valuation, negotiation, due diligence, start-up management, and governance.

  • Ability to:

  • use financial and non-financial skills to analyze problems in a logical manner and recommend solutions with consideration for the long and short-term impact of proposed solutions.

  • assimilate the commercial potential of new technologies and identify opportunities and risks, and assess investment opportunities. 

  • display verbal and written communication skills, clearly articulate and both support and challenge ideas and recommendations. 

  • utilize relationship skills and proactively engage with peers and start-up company management to resolve issues.

  • Proficient with business software applications.

  • Typically, Minimum 1-2 years of experience in venture capital, corporate venture capital, corporate development, consulting, investment banking, private equity, start-up leadership or related fields.

  • Experience in venture capital or corporate venture capital preferred.

  • International experience or ability to work across international cultures is desirable.

  • Must be able to comprehend and communicate accurately, clearly and concisely in English.

     

SUPERVISION EXCERCISED:

No supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a resource to others.

 

BUSINESS CONTACTS:

  • Frequent contacts with all levels of management within AVMCC. 

  • Typically, active in national and international professional organizations within area of expertise.    

     

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

  • Primarily office environment.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend with good balance, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

  • Regularly required to sit, perform repetitive duties, use standard office equipment and to talk and hear.

  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus is needed.

  • Occasionally required to lift, move and carry up to 10 pounds.

  • Travels approximately 5% of the time outside of normal work locations to US locations for site visits, calls, and interviews with start-up management.

     

The anticipated base salary range for this position is 67k-133k. Final base salary for this role is based on several factors, including the individual’s geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses and/or certifications.
