Planate Management Group LLC URGENT: Construction Manager (Palo, Alto, CA) in Palo Alto, California

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage construction projects in Palo Alto, with a focus on healthcare facility design and other commercial, institutional, and light industrial buildings.

General Requirements:

  • Must possess an in-depth depth knowledge of all facets of the construction process, including scheduling methods.

  • Minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in construction management. Candidates lacking a college curriculum may substitute the education requirement with 10 years construction management experience on construction projects valued $10 million or greater.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • Experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and maintaining official project records.

  • Experience in conducting meetings, and briefing clients and management personnel.

  • Knowledge of construction practices and techniques, e.g., proper applications of construction materials, methods of installation, and quality standards in the area of expertise.

  • Ability to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications.

  • Ability to accurately calculate construction costs for changes, price the value of needed work, and negotiate equitable adjustments.

  • Ability to inspect materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems in the Architect's or Engineer's area of expertise.

  • Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including specifically, a background that indicates familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements on construction projects. Knowledge of hospital-related Joint Commission (TJC) standards and elements of performance is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of applicable governance requirements (e.g., codes, standards)

  • Ability to resolve conflict (e.g., crisis, ambiguity, priorities) and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Healthcare experience is preferred.

Work Location:

  • This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, with on-site responsibilities at various construction sites. The role may require occasional travel to project locations within the region.
