RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The Cybersecurity Specialist will serve as a Qualified Validator (QV, formally Navy Qualified Validator (NQV)) and Technical Writer working closely with the Government Senior QV in the support of Naval Surface Warfare Command in Panama City
Monitor and manage risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk)
Keep up to date on national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity
Apply cybersecurity principles
Monitor and be aware of cyber threats and vulnerabilities
Analyze Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) requirements to determine
applicability to existing systems
Read and understand Standard Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and use the information to generate technically sound mitigation statements
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education: Bachelor's degree preferably in STEM from an accredited institution
Five (5) years of experience in DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and Information Assurance (IA) security compliance policies, programs, processes, and metrics
Experience with the Navy’s Risk Management Framework processes, and timelines
Experience with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) for entry and maintenance of RMF packages
Experience with Navy/NAVSEA RMF tools, such as eMASSTER, EvaluateSTIG, and STIGMaster
Ability to analyze Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) requirements to determine applicability to existing systems
Ability to read and understand Standard Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and use the information to generate technically sound mitigation statements
Certification: IAT Level III Certification required such as: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation or a Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) Security Leadership Certificate (GSLC)
Active Secret Security Clearance.
Responsibilities of this position also include, but are not limited to:
Attending mandatory, annual training sessions
Providing regular status reports to management summarizing progress, challenges, metrics, and recommendations
Collaborating with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination
Attending recurring team meetings or huddles
Assisting in the development of new initiatives
