Notice of Result letters will not be sent to applicants who respond to this flyer. Responsibilities You will select tools, methods, or techniques to use to carry out plumbing work. You will plan and lay out the routing, placement, slant, proper slope, fall, or level of installations to produce a proper flow, drainage, and sanitary operating conditions and to prevent backflow vacuum, or air lock conditions. You will locate and tap main lines, set up system routes, place and cut route openings, and place hangers for correct level and slope to make repairs. You will troubleshoot/test various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principle devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, other cross connection devices. You will work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform the following duties under normal supervision: 1) Installing, repairing, and modifying water supply, sewage disposal, and gas distribution, oil lines, and similar utility systems and equipment; 2) Using plumbing tools and equipment such as rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, various gauges and meters, various drain cleaning devices, hydrostatic pumps, and torches to make installations and repairs; and 3) Troubleshooting and repairing difficult or hard to detect leaks and operating problems which require difficult or extensive repair. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
