Overview: Maintain a working knowledge to maintain, troubleshoot, adjust, repair, and install all facility equipment, fixtures, and processes. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for understanding and performing all tasks and responsibilities according to the specific Job Safety Practices (JSP) established for this job. Responsible for safety and housekeeping procedures and for maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Responsible for adhering to all General Cable Corporation health, safety, and environmental policies and regulations, including our hazardous waste handling if designated and trained to do so. Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes including steam generators, air compressors, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, motors, motor controllers, logic controllers, and general equipment. Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes including copper rod breakdown, intermediate wire drawing, bunching, and cabling. Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes including thermoplastic extrusion, thermo-set extrusion, twisting, and braiding. Maintain a working knowledge of plant production equipment and processes in order to analyze, troubleshoot, and make sound logical decisions and recommendations for repair and maintaining of such equipment and processes. Maintain a working knowledge of general equipment, systems, and processes involving electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems. Supply and maintain a set of hand tools required to perform and maintain the required duties as well as a working knowledge of such hand tools. Responsible for initiating actions to prevent the occurrence of product nonconformities as well as preventing the possibility of a future non-conformance. Perform machine specific preventative maintenance inspections at prescribed intervals. Work in cooperation with operators, supervisors, and schedulers to determine equipment priorities Responsible for safety and housekeeping procedures to provide a safe and clean work environment. Responsible for completion of work assigned, and to properly document all work that is performed, material used, and the length of time to repair. Responsible for adhering to all environmental, health, & safety policies and regulations including Lockout/Tagout, Machine Guarding, and Hand Tool Safety. Maintain active certification for driving a forklift. Additional Waste Management Duties & Responsibilities for Affected Maintenance Technicians: Responsible for managing used oil from machine processes. Associate is responsible for securing the proper container, labeling the container with a used oil sticker, and arranging for it to be picked up and recycled when the container is full.
