Job Duties

Repairs and monitors air conditioning systems (central and package), heating systems (water and steam), steam systems (high, medium, low pressure), temperature readings on fans and pumps, heating, cooling, and re-circulation pumps. Also responsible for maintenance of fans (supply, return, exhaust), and oxygen and nitrous oxide piping.Maintains chilled water, steam, condensate, roof leader, glass acid piping and all other related piping.Makes rounds in all mechanical rooms, logs said rounds, monitors equipment, repairs plumbing (sinks, toilets, etc.)Performs plumbing installation and repair. Snakes out drain lines and sewers.Troubleshoots electrical and pneumatic controls and checks air compressors.Makes recommendations to supervisor in regard to safety and equipment operation procedure. Also, recommends when the equipment needs to be replaced instead of repaired.Responds to elevator emergencies.

Performs general repair to building and equipment on assigned zone/floor as requested.Completes daily time report at end of shift.Performs snow/ice removal as requested.Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectationsMaintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Assesses gaps in policies and procedures, and create necessary policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.Understands and adheres to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct. Familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.

BASIC COMPETENCIESEducationTrade school (HVAC or plumbing courses) graduate is preferred.

ExperiencePreferably, a minimum of three years’ experience.

SkillsAbility to select and use tools and equipment appropriate to the task.Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.Good interpersonal skills.JOB SETTING/PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust work in extreme temperatures.Noisy, dusty, dirty conditions.Potential of exposure to various contaminants.Prolonged, extensive or considerable standing/walking.Pushes, pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies.Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
