Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service Refugee Support Service Case Manager-Park River/Grafton ND in Park River, North Dakota

This position is remote to assist ORR-eligible clients in Park River, Grafton, and its vicinity. This position reports to the Refugee Support Services /State Grants Manager under the guidance of the RCA Specialist assigned for that region. The Refugee Support Service case manager works with Refugees, Asylees, and/or Humanitarian Parolees within the Refugee Services to provide case management services. This includes assessing client needs, creating service plans to address client needs, submitting applications for qualifying benefits, providing transportation to necessary appointments such as those at the Social Security office, health clinics, county offices, and schools, and referrals to other resources such as employment and immigration services. The case manager also orients clients to their new community and connects them to community resources. The goal of the program is for each client to be on the path to self-sufficiency.

    DUTIES

  • Read and understand program requirements and attend any training related to the funding.

  • Meet refugee families and assess their needs and short-term goals.

  • Referrals to internal and external resources and service providers.

  • Document tasks in case notes in an organized and timely manner and complete necessary and required paperwork for each case.

  • Conduct file review and quality assurance of case files regularly.

  • Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly staff meetings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or behavioral/human services field or two years of experience providing case management and/or social services preferred.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, and database programs.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and follow projects through with attention to detail.

  • Ability to work as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building.

  • Must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and valid insurance and be able to travel locally as required.

  • Fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is preferred (includes but is not limited to: Spanish, Creole, Ukrainian). Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

  • Cross-cultural or international experience preferred
