We are looking for an Internal Medicine Assistant to join our team!

This position is expected to work Monday-Friday 8a-4p. Schedules are subject to change based off the needs of the Hospital and the Department. Training Days/Hours TBD*

This position will pay $18-$22 hourly DOE

At least ONE YEAR of experience is required to be considered for this role!

Overall Responsibility :  The Internal Medicine Assistant supports the Internist and Technicians to provide safe and efficient treatments for animals receiving care. They help facilitate the treatment of animals in Internal Medicine by assisting in procedures, collecting samples, running or submitting diagnostic lab work.

Key Areas of Responsibility :

• Performs animal restraint

• Help admit patients for diagnostic testing

• Perform TPR accurately

• Assist the Technician in the collection of various diagnostic samples

• Perform blood work (procyte, chemistry, sedivue, lacuna, assist with send out)

• Stocking

• Cleaning/disinfecting after scoping procedures.

• Cleaning exam rooms after exams

• Prepares for procedures and anticipates the needs of the department

• Assist Technicians in CT's, radiographs, and a variety of other procedures

• Administration of oral, IM, SQ medications and SQ fluids under the supervision of a Technician

• Filling of prescriptions

• Other duties as directed

• Supports other areas and departments as needed.

  Minimum Qualifications : High School diploma or equivalent required.  At least 1 year of animal experience required.

  Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience as a veterinary assistant with job responsibilities that required animal restraint and radiographs.

  Physical Requirements : This job is physically active and requires frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds.

  Skill Requirements : Strong ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Proficient in animal restraint. Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Ability to navigate Medical Record and Whiteboard programs in a veterinary setting.
