Job Summary

Langan is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join its collaborative team in Parsippany or New York City. This individual will serve a key function in performing diverse hazardous building materials surveys and abatement monitoring and duties as field representative, including: site explorations including soil borings and monitoring well installations; field tests; collection of field data and samples; monitoring of construction sites, and compiling data and preparing reports. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously as an outward facing representative of Langan’s Hazmat sector, fueling the growth of Langan’s Environmental discipline.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform surveys and project monitoring of environmental and building abatement projects relating to asbestos, lead based paint, PCBs and other contaminants. Determine presence of hazardous materials and the appropriate remediation solution;

  • Analyze the project site and implement high-quality solutions to both routine and more complex field and/or laboratory problems;

  • Prepare proposals by incorporating scientific knowledge to determine cost estimates and specifications for abatement/remediation services;

  • Assist with the preparation and modification of various scientific documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects;

  • Conduct environmental sampling of soils, water, dust and indoor air as needed;

  • Prepare reports documenting field investigations and analytical results;

  • Perform monitoring services including overseeing abatement/remediation contractors performing work, documenting abatement/remediation work, conducting post abatement/remediation visual inspections and clearance/re-occupancy air or other applicable sampling;

  • Conduct file reviews, site reconnaissance, and prepare reports;

  • Assist other work groups within the same or different office locations and/or within the same or different discipline on an as-needed basis; and

  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Science;

  • Licensure/Certifications:

  • State Asbestos Inspector and Project Monitor;

  • State Licensed Lead Inspector;

  • Related licenses in other states and additional licenses (Lead Risk Assessor, Asbestos Designer) are considered a plus;

  • 3+ years of work-related experience;

  • Strong attention to detail;

  • Ability to work well individually and within groups;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and

  • Ability to work during evenings and/or weekends.

    Certain US jurisdictions require Langan to include an estimate of salary or hourly ranges. The estimated range for this role is: $72,000 - $91,500. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, location, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. Certain roles may be eligible for overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
