The Drafter I is responsible for coordinating the collection of data such as verbal instructions, sketches, and drawings, or engineering specifications and incorporating this information into working plans, layouts and detailed drawings. The Drafter I will also be responsible for following current company procedures and standards to ensure drawings are completed with quality and consistency. Duties and Responsibilities: Work from notes, verbal instructions, sketches, and drawings, or engineering specifications; consolidates the information to be used to prepare working plans, layouts, and detailed drawings. Reviews the design and helps resolve the details not completely defined. Determines the best combination of all the preliminary information and contributing data to develop the final design. Develops specifications, designs or drawings using engineering principles, established company standards, procedures, and instructions. Follows best practices, policies, and procedures in the design, layout, and documentation of all company products. Specific tasks may include making models, drawings and assemblies and Bill of Materials using the CAD system and other computer tools. Follows all company CAD best practices for model creation, drawing creation, file management and revision control to complete projects with minimal errors. Verifies completed work; checks dimensions, Bills of Materials, materials to be used, quantities, processing information, and adherence to best practices. Makes reasonable and sound decisions to meet budgets (both labor and cost) and deadlines. Provides scheduling, costing and technical information concerning the designs supported as well as status updates and information to internal departments and external vendors affected by design development. Resolves mechanical and fabrication problems with designed or purchased parts used in a design. Assures that any changes are documented and prepared in accordance with engineering change procedures in a timely manner. Provides regular feedback and updates to project team members and immediate supervisor about the status of drafting tasks. Actively assists in the development of drafting automation tools. May perform other duties as assigned. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Skills and Specifications: Strong verbal and written communication skills; with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information. Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and G Suite. Proficient in AutoCAD 2018 and/or Autodesk Inventor 2018 or later. Solid problem-solving skills. Able to manage multitask work in a fast-paced environment. Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work. Able to complete standard projects with technical assistance. Has a general understanding of bolted tanks and/or aluminum geodesic domes. Education and Qualifications: Associates Degree or Technical Certification preferred. 1-2 years of relevant drafting experience required Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
