Position Summary:

Responsible for assisting the maintenance and production teams with electrical and instrumentation related failures and improvements. Engineer will be responsible for the IandE equipment within two process units and will utilize usage-based, condition-based, and predictive maintenance-based techniques to improve plant reliability.

Responsibilities

:

  • Responsible for the engineering of electrical power distribution and electrical component sizing.
  • Responsible for the proper repair of all IandE equipment across the two process units and interacting with Operations, Site Technical and Line Management.
  • Provides engineering technical support and maintenance for electrical systems including transformers, switchgear, substations, circuit breakers, motor starters, protection relays, and generators
  • Provides engineering technical support and maintenance for different styles and applications of instrumentation including pressure transmitters, differential pressure transmitters, control valves, flow transmitters, density transmitters, and viscosity transmitters.
  • Develops schedules for new electrical installations and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Coordinates work with outside engineering firms, electric utility and electrical installation.
  • Responsible for electrical and instrument PM programs. Assures all activities are necessary and are fully optimized to the proper scope and performance frequency.
  • Develop/implement cost savings ideas and overall process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and departmental Safety and Environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage and execute of planned maintenance
  • Work with power supplier to coordinate outages and preventive maintenance
  • Oversee electrical and instrument contractors as needed
  • Equipment specifications, factory drawing review and acceptance testing of electrical equipment including switchgear, gas circuit breakers, load-break switches, high voltage breakers, transformers, and various types of process instrumentation.
  • Variable Frequency Drives selection and maintenance.
  • Set reliability practices as related to Power Distribution and Transformers
  • Troubleshoot switchgear and relay controls electrical systems.
  • Conduct short-circuits, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies
  • Provide technical assistance as needed wit in KAI
  • Work in the field assisting on shut-downs, startups and maintenance projects
  • Specify and order supplies required for repairs and improvement projects.

Qualifications

:

BS degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant industry/plant experience.

Understanding of medium voltage, high voltage, motors, drives, schematics, and associated circuitry.
