Purpose of the position:
The Technical Engineer - Senior will provide expert level technical and engineering support across all process areas and product groups at the Houston facility. This position will lead complex project engineering and process control efforts and drive continuous improvement through introduction of new process systems and technologies.
Primary Responsibilities
Provides expert level understanding of plant technology and processes. Understands plant raw material purpose, handling, and alternatives. Leads identification and implementation of new technologies.
Develops strategies to monitor and control plant processes. Applies high level problem solving and critical thinking to diagnose quality issues. Implements corrective and preventive actions related to plant quality. Prevents problems by assessing predictive data. Works with external suppliers to ensure acceptable existing raw material performance and identify opportunities for raw material trials.
Identifies capital project needs and proper justification. Utilizes capital project charter to acquire necessary approvals and maintain adequate communication. Leads project teams from concept to startup. Specifies necessary operating conditions. Designs equipment according to Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP). Measures business impact following project implementation. Quantifies business impact following project implementation.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Support - Follows proper management of change for appropriate projects. Provides competent technical process evaluations for accurate risk assessment of plant processes. Promotes safe handling of process raw materials from receiving and storage through consumption. Identifies and pursues actions that reduce plant environmental footprint.
Coordinate contract maintenance organization to complete daily maintenance tasks.
Education:
BS Engineering (Chemical preferred).
MS Engineering desired.
Experience:
7+ years' experience as an engineer in a chemical manufacturing process.
Experience in working with multidisciplinary technical associates to achieve cost effective goals.
3+ years' Project Management experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
Embraces collaboration and teamwork in achieving business goals and objectives.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of statistical analysis and other continuous improvement tools.
