Purpose/Introduction

We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Polyethylene Operations Engineer at our Pasadena facility. Under the direction of the Unit Superintendent, the Operations Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting analysis to ensure the unit runs safely and efficiently. This position will consist of driving The Tenets of Operation in their daily activities along with plant optimization and longer-term projects. The successful candidate needs to exhibit strong safety leadership, initiative, teamwork, excellent communication skills, assertive decision-making, self-starter orientation, and a dedication to plant optimization. The Operations Engineer will work with the unit operators, engineering, leadership team, and all other departments to ensure all safety, environmental, production, and cost goals are met.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a safety leader in the unit and champions safety with every decision made.

  • Assists in addressing all safety and environmental issues promptly.

  • Provides operations oversight and assistance for support group efforts.

  • Participates in unit audits and resolves findings.

  • Works closely with operators and maintenance to troubleshoot operating problems.

  • Prepares Environmental Emissions calculations and reports.

  • Assists in the preparation of Monthly Title V reports.

  • Optimizes current and future operations to reduce emissions.

  • Functions as a team representative on large projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

  • Must have at least 18 months of manufacturing experience.

  • The successful candidate must be a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.

  • The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate skills in evaluating and prioritizing work to ensure alignment with the department's goals.

  • Excellent problem solving, planning, troubleshooting, communication and teamwork skills.

  • Must exhibit a continuous improvement focus in the areas of safety, environmental and operational excellence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in polyethylene manufacturing plant operations.
