The Continuous Improvement team is responsible for executing activities and improvements across all operations that support our business objective in areas like safety, quality, delivery and cost. These projects will aim at maximizing efficiency in the use of equipment and manpower and level production loading. The weld engineer is responsible for overseeing the quality of all production welds at the facility. They are expected to work with both the R&D and the Quality teams to make sure all policies, practices, and documentation is accurate, up to date, and in line with all regulatory requirements. They will routinely audit welds and weld practices for continuous improvement. They will develop and implement a sustainable training program for the welders, including assessing and training new welders, as well as a system for advancing current welders to full proficiency. Essential Functions and Duties: Work with operations management to establish and manage welding validation and FDA compliance, document welding processes and procedures. Always present as subject matter expert, to include but not limited to internal and external audits. Validate welding competence criteria for new team members. Train new team members as needed. Regularly review welding processes and procedures to improve efficiency, quality and manufacturability. Improve welding and fabrication process efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space and equipment requirements. Improve one-by-one process flow to reduce/eliminate need for batching. Document and develop welding process and validation criteria for new products. Drive product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities. Establish KPI's (to include specification and control limits) and standards for monitoring and reporting manufacturing effectiveness, to include trending and historical data. Assist R&D and NPD in design for manufacturing criteria. Drive process improvements by studying product requirements, process and weld techniques, equipment upgrades and industry best practices. Ensure a culture of continuous improvement. Support leadership efforts to balance work efficiently when rates, model mix and demand change ensuring product and process integrity. Ensure safety and compliance with Permobil, Federal and State safety rules and regulations. Provide secondary production support in times of need to support on-time delivery commitments to our customers. Conducting failure analyses and cause analyses on welding issues. Troubleshoot weld fixture issues provide solutions to non-conformance. Qualifications: Experience in installing automated and manual manufacturing equipment. Continuous Improvement training and experience. (Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, 3P, etc...) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated time management and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and ability to multitask. Able to work independently and collaboratively as need requires. CWI certification.
