Cardinal Health Manager, Warehouse Operations - Night Shift in Peabody, Massachusetts

Position Summary

The Manager, Operations reports to the Director, Operations and is responsible for motivating, developing, and leading a team of five Supervisor direct reports and 125 indirect associates.

The Manager will lead the night shift operations and ensure all Cardinal Health operational, financial and safety procedures are followed, enabling relevant key financial performance indicators are met and operational goals are achieved. The warehouse, located in Boston, MA, is 230,000 square feet and picks, packs, and ships approximately $8 billion in pharmaceutical products annually. The Manager, Operations role is essential to maintaining clear and frequent communications with different levels within the organization as well as with customers.

Hours: Sunday-Thursday: 7:00pm – 4:00am (Some Flexibility)

What Operations Management contributes to Cardinal Health

Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of 5 Supervisors and 125 Associates to ensure timely distribution and receipt of product while meeting distribution center standards of budget, policies, procedures, and quality

  • Monitors warehouse productivity, adheres to budget requirements, works towards obtaining distribution center programs and coordinating all necessary repairs

  • Recommends and implements programs, policies, and strategies to increase production and efficient space utilization within the facility

  • Implements and administers all policies and procedures

  • Ensures quality service is provided to the customers, ensures prompt follow-through on customer correspondence related to shipment of merchandise and stock-on-hand

  • Handles general employee inquiries and resolves concerns

  • Responsible for supervisory and employee population development, training, coaching, counseling and performance appraisals

  • Maintains positive employee engagement

  • Must be flexible with work schedule to be a visible leader and maximize employee interactions for a multi shift distribution operation

  • Manages professional employees and supervisors; manages business support, technical and production staff

  • Has accountability for managing financial resources and inventory levels in excess of $230M

  • Provides technical guidance to employees

  • Develops processes and procedures to implement functional strategies

  • Has in-depth expertise in own job family and knowledge of the related job families

  • Applies expertise to improve effectiveness and provide guidance to employees in own area

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) experience preferred

  • 6+ years of warehouse operations experience preferred

  • 3+ years of leading and developing teams and building employee engagement in a warehouse operations environment preferred

  • Strong communication skills

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products\

Anticipated salary range: $95,300 – $136,200
