Matheny is a special hospital for children and adults with medically complex developmental disabilities. Our fully-accredited non-profit private school combines traditional academics with therapeutic intervention and pre-vocational skill development. Our Adult Services Program includes five licensed community residences/group homes and two adult learning centers. Matheny's Arts Access program empowers individuals with disabilities to create art without boundaries. Matheny has a career opportunity available for aPer Diem Pharmacy Technican.

Duties of this position include:

  • Performs receptionist duties including but not limited to answering the telephone and greeting visitors.

  • Reads and interprets physicians’ orders received in the Pharmacy and transcribes orders onto the Pharmacy computer.

  • Prepares individual medication cassettes for verification by the Pharmacist; Prepares, in accordance with Pharmacy procedures, practice compounds for patient use (ex. Creams, ointments, etc.) under direct Pharmacist supervision.

  • Delivers filled medication cassettes and exchanges patient bins every 24 hours; Transfers medications as necessary.

  • Fills requisitions for floor stock orders for verification by the Pharmacist.

  • Responds to pick up and delivery of “STAT” orders.

  • Maintains patient profiles according to Pharmacy procedures.

  • Prepares pass medications for verification by the Pharmacist.

  • Places and transmits orders to drug wholesalers; Checks in all medication orders.

  • Repackages liquid and solid oral medications.

  • Maintains proper storage and security conditions for drugs; Checks for outdated drugs monthly in the Pharmacy.

  • Attends monthly Pharmacy meetings and in-services.

Position Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.

Licensure/Certifications:

Licensed as a Registered Pharmacy Technician by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.

Full-Time/Part-Time Per Diem
