Overview

Vessel Master (200 Ton) (TWR-2024-20926):

Bowhead seeks a Part time Vessel Master (200 Ton), near coastal, to operate and assist motor vessels out of Naval Station Pearl Harbor (Honolulu, Hawaii). The Vessel Master (200 Ton) will ensure that the vessel is prepared and ready to depart to meet the assigned schedule.

Responsibilities

While underway the Master shall be responsible for the safety of the crew and passengers. Day rate of $375/day.

Vessel Master will will include but are not limited to:

• Manage the crew to ensure the safe operation of the MPC vessel.

• Coordinate vessel departures, positioning, and anchoring.

• Execute all vessel operations safely and in an accurate manner so as not to endanger crew, passengers, or the vessel.

• Operate the vessel following inland and international rules-of-the-road using radar, GPS, and other navigational aids.

• Ability to interact directly with the Project Manager, Senior Maintenance Engineer, Chief Engineers, government personnel on a daily basis to meet schedule commitments and maintain effective communication.

• Inter-island sailing is 20% of the position travel. Vessel services are heavily utilized during the summer. Flexible schedule and availability required as there could be night or weekend missions needing support.

Qualifications

• Three to five (3 to 5) plus years of experience in operation and maintenance of similar sized vessels.

• 200 ton USCG license required, higher licensed applicants highly encouraged to apply.

• 40 hour HAZWOPPER certified- preferred.

• Prior Military experience is a plus but not required.

• Experience operating vessels under conditions requiring precise navigation, station keeping, close quarter maneuvering, precision anchoring, and specialized testing operations.

• Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.

• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Public Trust clearance at this location.
