Job Title: Summer 2025 Applications Chemistry Lab Intern - Agriculture & Process Industries (Ag/PI)

Summary:You will join our Ag-PI group to play a hands-on role and is expected to be focused on developing new mold release agents in support of new sustainable product development as well as application testing, improving current formulas for ease of production, cost reduction, and/or to meet regulatory demands.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops new formulas and products, from concept to launch, as specified by the New Product Development process. Key activities include new product development, competitive performance benchmarking, development, raw material sourcing, product stability testing, scale-up, and assessment of regulatory compliance.

  • Develops application testing processes to simulate customer processes and demonstrate supporting data for product development purposes.

  • Able to communicate effectively (Verbal and Written) in conveying technical concepts clearly to a varied audience. Maintains and organizes electronic/manual record-keeping systems (including technical reports, and presentations) for projects and customer samples.

  • Must be capable of and willing to accept all work rules, safety and environmental instructions, policies, and procedures, as applied to the job.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related technical discipline.

  • At least 3-4 months of chemical research experience in a chemical laboratory (academia or industrial).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Communicate effectively both written and verbally with all organizational levels.

  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a team environment.

  • Excellent listening skills and ability to review all details before determining and implementing appropriate actions.

  • Self-sufficient, resourceful, results-driven, and accountable

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in silicone or polymer chemistry, formulation, & manufacturing processes is a plus.

Program Requirements

  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.

  • The candidate is expected to be available to work in person 40 hours a week for 10-12 weeks between May and August.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, turn, lift, and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces, and balancing will be required. Reaching, feeling, finger movement, grasping, hearing, sight, and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs. The ability to wear personal protective equipment, and the ability to pass a fit test and wear a respirator is required for most positions.

Students enrolled in a Graduate degree level program are eligible to receive a higher rate than the range listed below. Master's rate: $32/hr; PhD rate: $37/hr

What We Offer:Base Pay Range: $22.00 - $26.00
