Job Title: Plasma Specialist Division: Precision Pulley & Idler (PPI)

FLSA: Hourly - Non-Exempt Grade: 2

Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-5%

Revision Date: June 4, 2024 Reports To: Production Supervisor

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for processing parts using the plasma cutter and oxy/fuel torches by performing duties and responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

More specifically, the person will:

  • Operate plate cutter in CNC or manual mode.

  • Utilize overhead crane to load plate on and off of tables.

  • Maximize use of raw materials by assuring minimal scrap or waste.

  • Verify accuracy of parts and components to specifications using various measuring instruments, prints, and schedules.

  • Coordinate production of parts and components with other departments.

  • Stay informed of and track any known materials that need to be ordered.

  • Use and understand various paperwork, including schedules, prints, & tech standards.

  • Perform routine maintenance and housekeeping.

  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job.

  • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.

  • Continually participate in additional training related to the position.

  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be able to demonstrate proficiency in reviewing and understanding various measuring instruments, prints and schedules.

  • Must be able to work independently to complete work in a timely manner

  • Strong critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities are required

  • General computer experience required

  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations

  • Knowledge of CNC machine tools

  • Ability to take accurate measurements with calipers and micrometers

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS

  • High School diploma or

  • A general education degree (GED); or

  • One to three months related experience and/or training; or

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES

  • Driver and fork lift license

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to frequently stoop/bend. Must be able to regularly use hands and arms. Must be able to regularly stand and walk. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with a hoist assist. Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, and peripheral vision. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include being able to respond quickly to instructions in a fast-paced work environment and demonstrate good communication skills.

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

Steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection when necessary. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work with flammable materials and vibrations. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually LOUD.
