Job Summary:

Provide direct services to FLACRA’s clients via individual, family and group counseling. In addition to the direct service duties, the Senior Counselor provides for clinical backup to the Team Manager/Director. The Senior Counselor provides, under the direction of the Team Manager/Director, assessment of and development of quality care to clients via support and supervision of the FLACRA Mental Health counseling staff.

Must Have Qualifications:

  • Masters level education in Health/Human Services

  • Licensed Professional in one of the following credentials:

  • Creative Arts Therapist (CAT)

  • Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT)

  • Mental Health Counselor (MHC)

  • Licensed Psychoanalyst

  • Master's Level Psychologist (with the supervision of a psychologist)

  • Master of Social Work (MSW)

  • Three years of any combination of education and supervisory experience in mental health services

  • Valid NYS Drivers’ License

    Nice to Have Qualifications :

  • Previous experience working in a Behavioral Health setting

  • Previous experience as a Licensed Professional

  • Training and expertise in provision of both adult and children mental health treatment

Job Requirements:

Duties

  1. Responsible for, but not limited to, providing direct diagnostic evaluative services to clients referred to this Agency by many varied referral sources. To assess the client’s primary and secondary diagnosis and, thus, need for further counseling.

  2. Supply identified clients’ direct therapeutic services through individual, conjoint, family and/or group therapy.

  3. With self-direction and competence, carry out the Agency’s responsibilities to its clientele. Handle intake and service load with independent judgment using self-initiated consultation in technical problems of diagnostic evaluation in treatment techniques. 4. Participate in community presentations and training programs as needed.

  5. Participate in general, staff, in-service and supervisory meetings help by the Agency or counseling staff.

  6. As required, direct activities of OMH staff including but not limited to therapists, support staff and students.

  7. Provide training as needed to existing staff, new staff and interns.

  8. Aid in the direct supervision of the program staff in the absence of the Program Director.

  9. Provide clinical back up for the Program Director and have sound diagnostic abilities.

  10. Perform other functions as directed. Must have knowledge of OMH regulations.

Other Skills/Knowledge and Experience

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with culturally diverse persons, staff, and community service providers.

  3. Knowledge of local behavioral health service system.

  4. Ability to multi-task, have good problem solving & time management skills and the ability to remain calm in a crisis.

  5. E-Record.
