THE POSITION
Do you have a passion for helping others? If so, Luzerne County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is seeking a proficient, hard-working Aging Care Manager 3 who is dedicated to helping assist our senior residents to lead safe and healthy lives. This position is assigned to the Protective Services Unit within the Social Services Department and is responsible for a variety of tasks in order to optimize the safety and well-being of the population we serve. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As an Aging Care Manager 3, you will play a vital role in providing a wide-range of services to the valued older adults within our community. Specific duties include recording a Report of Need for protective services and determining the category and priority of need for the report. This also involves investigating all allegations and categories of abuse on the Report of Need within regulatory time frames. Excellent interpersonal skills are crucial, as you will be conducting visits and interviews with older adults and all collateral contacts pertinent to the case, including the alleged perpetrator of the abuse, and collecting all necessary evidence and documents. You will work with other agencies and entities in coming to a conclusion regarding the case in order to ensure the safety of the alleged victim. Diligence must be exercised in arranging for any necessary services for the person served such as assuring medical intervention, assisting with protection from abuse orders, assisting with an eviction notice at the magistrates, assisting with potential placement, applying for a representative payee, and any other actions necessary to protect the individual.
This position may require the use of legal intervention, as necessary, to gain access to the older adult or to participate in proceedings for appointment of a guardian of estate or person. You may be required to testify in court. Additional responsibilities involve conducting reassessments as required, completing various reports, and attending relevant trainings and seminars.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or
One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience.

Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne and Wyoming Counties.
