Feed Mill Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift

Oracle Pork Nutrition (OPN) is looking for an experienced Feed Mill Maintenance Technician to work in our new, state of the art feed mill in Peru Indiana, for second shift. As a Feed Mill Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible performing all daily preventative and corrective maintenance on all facility related equipment/machinery. This position will also systematically troubleshoot any mechanical and electrical issues and perform unscheduled maintenance as it arises. In addition, this position will assist in various operations functions as time permits or as directed by the Feed Mill Management Team. This maintenance position is needed for 8-10 hours a day, including some Saturdays. Second shift hours are 3:00pm - 11:30pm.

This maintenance position earns a competitive wage of $26.37 per hour plus $1.00 dollar shift premium for the second shift.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Feed Production Operation by providing immediate response to all breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Ensure bearings on equipment are located and lubricated on a daily basis
  • Perform daily checks for wear and tear on hammer mill and pelleting systems
  • Check magnets for build-up and record findings
  • Perform daily boiler maintenance
  • Check air filters on equipment to ensure efficient operation
  • Assist with pellet mill die and roller adjustments and clean outs
  • Assist with all scheduled maintenance performed within the feed mill
  • Ensure immediate response to all breakdowns to minimize equipment downtime
  • Perform minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with various facility equipment
  • Perform other duties as needed or required

Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, advanced degree preferred

Previous mechanical maintenance experience with electrical background

Knowledge of 110, 220, and 480 volt electrical systems

Knowledge of high pressure steam boilers

Experience maintaining mechanical drives, belt drives, and conveyor systems.

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and gear boxes.

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to work in extreme hot, cold, wet, humid, and odorous environments

Flexibility to work overtime when needed.

Experience in performing basic machine alignment using precision instruments

Basic operation and minor troubleshooting and repair for a Propane Fork Truck and an electric pallet jack.

Knowledge/experience with grain or feed handling equipment, such as bucket elevators, drag conveyors, screw conveyors, etc.

Willing to complete Confined Space Training

Ability to read and comprehend various prints, schematics and other documents

Good computer literacy skills and possess ability to write clear and concise reports

Commitment to follow safety policies and practices and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
