Verdantas is seeking an Engineering Technician. This position will be located in our Petoskey, MI office .

Responsibilities:

  • Produces construction drawings, maps, diagrams, and reports as needed using AutoCAD, ESRI, & MS Office software

  • Construction staking of power utility transmission and distribution line projects

  • Field inspection of power utility construction projects

  • Performs field mapping services utilizing GPS devices on overhead & underground lines and equipment

  • Performs field inventory of joint-use attachments to utility poles

  • Preparation of construction drawings for substation, transmission, and distribution line projects

  • Assistance with permitting for power utility construction projects

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required. Two-year associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Geography, GIS, or a related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar position is preferred

  • 0-5 years of experience

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications

  • Familiarity with utility infrastructure and mapping systems including ESRI-based products

  • Must be able to understand mapping terminology, survey, and GIS concepts

  • Must be able to operate, maintain, and protect expensive survey equipment including GPS units, laser range finders, and electronic transits

  • Must be self-motivated, highly detail-oriented, and have strong interpersonal skills

  • Must possess a Michigan Driver’s License

  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
