Generac Power Systems National Sales Manager I in Pewaukee, Wisconsin

The National Sales Manager I is responsible for leading the strategy and the team responsible for field execution in big box/large national retail accounts. This role supports the following accounts and programs: Costco in-club and online, Costco HSB & EV SF&I (Installation Services), Sam’s Club in-club and online, Sam’s Club SF&I, and BJ’s Wholesale in-club.

This position pioneers and grows relationships both corporately and in the field and identifies, develops and implements a national sales strategy that will create new sales opportunities. The National Sales Manager I leads the strategic plan for given accounts and is responsible for coordinating internal functional areas to deliver a unified face to the customer.

Essential Duties:

  • Develops and implements strategic sales plan focused on growing sales for assigned retailer account.

  • Develops accurate and detailed metrics to facilitate effective business forecasting and resource allocation.

  • Forecasts, develops, manages and achieves shipment and order budgets.

  • Analyzes and reviews sales trends to identify opportunities and threats.

  • Manages and grows P&L.

  • Achieves contribution margin target.

  • Works with the Marketing Department to develop initiatives/merchandising/packaging that drive sales efforts.

  • Manages promotional opportunities to maximize return on investment.

  • Manages sales pipeline for consistent flow of sales opportunities.

  • Develops broad and deep account relationships.

  • Negotiates and closes contracts.

  • Expands Generac’s existing business and focuses on ways to expand Generac business into new areas.

  • Negotiates placement of new and existing products and programs with current and prospective customers.

  • Drives flawless customer service execution, analyzes the current business and implements new strategies for customer service.

  • Designs and directs the work of the team. Selects, coaches and develops staff. Sets clear expectations to inspire and motivate the team. Manages performance-- recognizing achievement, providing feedback and administering progressive discipline when necessary.

  • Attend customer sponsored events such as sales and training meetings or charity events.

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • 3 years of successful recent sales or marketing experience

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year working with SAP or equivalent ERP system

  • 3 years progressive supervisory experience working with remote teams

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

  • Organizational skills;

  • Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial culture;

  • Ability to analyze financials;

  • Knowledge of the internal processes and systems that support sales accounts

  • Proven success in developing and fostering business relationships within the retail industry

  • Previous business planning, budgeting, and P&L skills.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
