The Breast Surgery Division within the Department of Surgery at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania has an exciting opportunity for an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner AGACNP with RN First Assist certification (RNFA) or Physician Assistant (PA-C), to join their team of board-certified Surgeons and Advanced Practice Providers. This team provides surgical care for breast cancer and benign breast disease patients, as well as non-surgical management of benign breast disease. As a NP/PA on this service you will be part of a high functioning inter-professional team who is responsible for the management of complex breast surgery patients throughout the care continuum. Responsibilities for the NP/PA who joins our team will include operating room first-assisting, postoperative inpatient care, clinical decision making, care coordination, team collaboration, and education of patients, family and staff. In addition, the provider will participate in research as applicable, ensure regulatory compliance, document care according to standards, and prescribe in accordance with their collaborative agreement and State regulations.

The NP/PA, will provide quality care in collaboration with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Nursing staff, and other members of the care team, and be expected to manage patient care autonomously within the scope of their professional practice. Opportunities for professional growth and development are available through research, lecturing, publications, and involvement with departmental and hospital projects and committees.

All NP’s and PA-C’s function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff guidelines and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges, and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Certification/Licensures/Education:

-Master's degree (required)

-Licensed in PA as PA-C or AGACNP with RN First Assist certification (RNFA) (required)

-ACLS (required)

-BLS (required)

-Prescriptive Authority (required)
