Reference #: 74275 Division Information The Pet Care business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Owners of dogs, cats, birds, small animals, fish and reptiles rely on our brands for exceptional value and trusted results. Our industry-leading brands include Tetra, Instant Ocean, Marineland, 8-in-1, Dingo, FURminator, Nature's Miracle, GloFish, DreamBone and SmartBones.Job Summary The Associate National Account Manager will lead all activities related to sales and relationship growth, including strategic development, presentation creation, analysis, forecasting, and tactical preparation related to calls and events.

The region consists of several key Retail, Wholesale and Distributor partners in the Northeast and Canada. Included in the US are customers such as Imperial Distribution, Demoulas Supermarkets, SuperValu, the Convenience Store channel and others. While in Canada, the customer base includes Walmart, Canadian Tire, Loblaws, Sobeys, London Drugs and others.Primary Duties & Responsibilities Model the Spectrum Brands eight Core Capabilities to achieve service excellence, meet and exceed organizational objectives and support fiscal responsibility. Assist Team lead in development of sales strategies, programs and plans for assigned account and potential business with assigned accounts and/or customers. Assist in development annual quota, profit plan and sales action plan and monitor actual results vs. plan throughout the year, making adjustments when appropriate. Help prepare for business reviews and presentations, as appropriate, to management. Assist marketing and sales management with development of marketing strategies and advertising plans as appropriate. Recommend opportunities for increased business penetration, based on knowledge of customers and category. Establish appropriate account contacts and maintain an effective working relationship internally and externally. Assist team in handling inquiries, complaints and service programs working through appropriate business functions and acting as liaison with promotions, special programs, new products and other relevant activities to customers. Attend customer meetings and trade conferences as appropriate. Work closely with a sales analyst/supply chain to maximize their output and contribution. Communicate effectively and on time.

Education and Experience Specific knowledge and relationships of selling to Big box retailers or national accounts, typically gained through 3 plus years of sales/field experience or category/sales analysis Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or related field. Direct account management experience is preferred but not required. Exposure to syndicated data is also a plus but not required. Education and Experience Profile An equivalent combination of: * Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline preferred. * 5 years in retail field sales and direct account responsibility. * A minimum of 2-4 years' work experience in consumer products industry. * High level proficiency working with syndicated data or category management. Required Skills Must be able to create and manage to a budget. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point. Accountable for sales volume compared to quota, profit compared to budget. Must meet volume growth/market penetration objectives (i.e. MBO's). Strong analytical skills to allow for fact based selling. Strong communication both verbal and non-verbal as well as negotiating skills. Organization and prioritization skills. Effective time management, detail and accuracy. Goal-oriented individual who can focus on obtaining objectives. Ability to think strategically and make sound business decisions. High level of integrity. High level of technical aptitude. Work Environment * Working conditions are normal for an office sales environment. Flexible office home office opportunities exist. * Willing to travel to Canada when business needs arise. * Occasional exposure to weather when traveling.
