Salary Grade: T28 Learn more about the "T" salary structure: Click Here Summary of Position Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategy, Insights, and Operations for Strategic Marketing and Communications (SM+C) the Director of Operations (Finance and Administration) oversees the budget development and management, tracking and forecasting, financial planning, and financial data management; while also providing leadership and oversight to the management and coordination of all human resource activities including hiring, compensation, workforce planning, and implementing policies in conformance to university and HR policy and practice. The Director acts as a catalyst for change, supporting the development and implementation of policies, practices, and Finance and HR strategies that enable the department to accomplish broader strategic goals. Working in close collaboration with colleagues across campus, the Director serves as the department expert in finance and human resources policies and procedures, and industry best practices.

Essential Functions of Position Leads the development and implementation of goals, priorities and processes relating to financial management, budget, and accounting. Develops, implements and maintainsdocumentation and reports. Conducts and documents complex financial and business analysis to identify both issues and opportunities; effectivelyuse insights to craft and make strategic recommendations. Executes special projects for strategic decision-making and planning, including scenario planning and industry forecasting for both higher ed and marketing. Is an expert in and upholds general accounting principles and university policies and procedures as outlined by university budget office; develops and maintains a deep working relationship with colleagues in the university budget office, finance and purchasing. Manages bid process and contract management for SM+C and university widemarketing and communications contracts and vendor/agency partnerships. Leads the development and implementation of goals, priorities and processes related to employee relations, hiring, employeeonboarding,performance management, timekeeping, payroll and benefits. Develops, implements and maintainsrelated documentation and training materials. Is an expert in and upholds university HR policies and procedures; develops and maintains a working relationship with university HR colleagues. Oversees SM+C administrative operations including office and employee technology, facilities management and other divisional administrative needs. Other Duties, Responsibilities and Skills Oversees the performance and development of several direct reports. Demonstrated track-record of professional good judgement and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters. Deep understanding of all aspects and complexities of operations including planning, budgeting and reporting. Excellent project management, analytic, communication and diplomacy skills. Ability to effectively manage Purchasing Cards and other financial transactions. Excellent knowledge of the Microsoft office suite, especially excel. Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate complex organizations and effectively represent the division and the university. Superior communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to successfully engage with a range of internal colleagues. Ability to create and deliver presen ations on complex business situations. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy of work. Superior organizational skills - must be able to effectively prioritize and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability to effectively and collaboratively work as part of a cross-functional team.

Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in a related area and at least six (6) years of directly related experience in finance, HR, or related field. Experience must include working independently in a leadership capacity and managing strategic finance and HR matters. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Preferred: Advanced degree SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or PHR certification Experience directly managing staff Knowledge and experience of Temple-specific finance and HR policies and procedures.
