Pennoni Associates Inc Electrical Design Engineer - Municipal / Water and Wastewater Utilities in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Pennoni is hiring! In particular, we are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to contribute to our Municipal Engineering team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Philadelphia, PA . This person will work on a variety of system design projects with an emphasis on Municipal Infrastructure / Water & Wastewater.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to electrical site layout, code review, utility design, and permitting activities.
  • Prepare electrical single-line diagrams as well as electrical arrangement & circuit drawings using knowledge and experience of relevant equipment (such as motors, motor starters & disconnects, transformers, MCC's, VFD's, SCADA, etc.)
  • Design low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems (primarily for water and wastewater facilities).
  • Write technical specifications and provide budgetary cost estimates for electrical distribution.
  • Ensure that our work is NEC-compliant.
  • Work on a variety of projects with public and private-sector clientele.
  • Interpret construction standards while also ensuring compliance with state & local codes.
  • Review and approve electrical contractor submittals & shop drawings.
  • Provide on-site support during construction, as needed.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.

Basic Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related technical discipline).
  • 4+ years of professional experience working in Electrical Design, preferably with infrastructure / utility projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE credential is a plus!
  • Experience working on Public Works Infrastructure projects; proven expertise with wet utilities (e.g.: water and/or wastewater) is preferred!
  • Proven ability to read and interpret engineered diagrams.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, analytical programs, etc.).
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software applications.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); expertise with active listening is a plus!
