General Job Description This is enforcement and neighborhood development field work, ensuring the public's participation in, and adherence to the requirements of the City's public safety traffic enforcement or sanitation programs.  

Sanitation specialty positions allocated to the Neighborhood Development assignment contact residents of city neighborhoods in an effort to enlist and maintain their interest and active support in good sanitation practices. Motivating, advising and continually maintaining public interest and participation in such a program are significant aspects of the work. Sanitation specialty positions allocated to the Enforcement assignment patrol an assigned geographical area, enforce the City's sanitation laws and regulations and exercise good judgment in the issuance of written and electronic warnings and violations. Educating the public and community groups on sanitation laws and regulations is a significant aspect of the work.  

Work may require handling rubbish to identify violators.

Work in all specialties and assignments involves some undesirable conditions and is performed under the supervision of an administrative superior.

 

The Requirements are as follows:

EDUCATION

Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade.

 

AND

EXPERIENCE:

SANITATION SPECIALTY

OPTION 2:

Two years of clerical or field experience which shall have involved, as a significant job assignment giving information to or eliciting information from the public. OR

BILINGUAL SPECIALTY

Two years of clerical or customer service experience which shall have involved giving information to or eliciting information from the public. Sufficient training and or experience to be able to converse effectively in English and the designated non-English language.
