The Wistar Institute of Anatomy & Biology Lab-Tian - Post-Doctoral Fellow in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Wistar Institute is a world leader in early-stage discovery science in the areas of cancer, immunology, and infectious disease. Wistar is committed to accelerating research advances from bench to bedside through brilliant science and distinctive approaches to collaboration among scientific investigators and academic and industry partners. Wistar's dynamic environment supports the advancement of discoveries that will change the future of human health.

We have an opening for a motived candidate to join the Bin Tian lab as a Post-Doctoral Fellow to study regulation of pre-mRNA processing in cancer and inflammation using molecular and cellular biology approaches and to develop related anti-cancer and anti-inflammation therapeutics. One area of research is to examine the impact of dysregulated cleavage and polyadenylation (CPA) in oncogenesis and cancer cell drug resistance.  A second area of research is to develop effective CPA-based therapeutics, involving small molecules, antisense oligos or mRNA-based approaches.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in molecular biology, cancer biology, or a related field. The successful candidate is expected to have good communication skills that are necessary for effective collaborations. Interested candidates should apply online as well as providing a CV including a summary of previous research and contact information of three referees to Dr. Bin Tian (btian@wistar.org).

The Tian lab uses interdisciplinary approaches to study mRNA biogenesis and metabolism, with a special focus on the molecular mechanisms and cellular consequences of alternative cleavage and polyadenylation. We employ a variety of cutting-edge techniques spanning multiple fields, including molecular and cellular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, and advanced imaging. Detailed research topics and publications can be found at https://wistar.org/our-scientists/bin-tian.

The Wistar Institute is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). All candidates must share our commitment to DEI. The Wistar Institute is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, mentoring, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of our academic/research community.

The Wistar Institute is located in the University City area of Philadelphia, in the heart of the University of Pennsylvania Campus. Wistar provides resources to its faculty and staff that enable them to conduct cutting edge collaborative research and provides for outstanding intellectual environments and state-of-the-art facilities.

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits package.
