NBC Universal Manager of Production - NBC and Telemundo Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Spanning three floors of the Comcast Technology Center, the dazzling new home of NBC 10 and Telemundo 62 is an 80,000-square-foot broadcast center and Philadelphia’s news epicenter. It features cutting-edge newsroom IP technology and LEED energy-efficient design. The Technology & Operations department (PHI TechOps) provides providing Technical Support, Engineering, Media Operations, Production, Studios and Facilities services for internal clients for the local portfolio of NBCU Local Television Station businesses. 

Reporting to the VP, Technology & Operations, the Manager of Production is a key leadership position within the Technology & Operations Organization.  The person will be responsible for the Linear and digital production vision for both NBC10 & Telemundo 62. They will manage the staff and daily operations of our Studios, Control Rooms, and our Media Center. They will also be an integral part of event planning, special programs, and the point person for our Central MCR playout center in Denver. They will partner closely with the Technology Management team and lead station initiatives and projects. The person will also collaborate with the RSN Technology & Operations team, located at the Wells Fargo Center, specifically the Studio Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Operations team, including hiring, feedback, and performance management. Maintain a culture of accountability and high performance.

  • Singular contact for day-to-day operations involving the Studios, Control Room, and the Media Center. Ensure our customers are being served to the highest standards.

  • Partner with the Manager of Technology on projects and day to day activities.  

  • Responsible for FAST Channel and Digital Production and associated tools & technology.

  • Collaborate with News Leadership to ensure editorial direction translates to successful on-air production.

  • Participate in remote production planning including but not limited to site surveys, production crewing, and vendor management.

  • Ensure appropriate EHS standards are implemented.

  • Responsible for maintaining the station Disaster Recovery plan.   

  • Cross train, coach, and develop members of the production teams.

  • Create, document, and implement SOP’s.

  • Track Operations Metrics including discrepancies.  

  • Budget accountability, staff scheduling including payroll approval, vacation etc.

  • Participate in key divisional initiatives e.g. roll-out of new workflows.

  • Partner with the divisional Technology team on emerging technologies & requirements.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

  • Take on other responsibilities as assigned. 

  • 24/7/365 so must be willing to be on call and respond quickly to the needs of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in relevant area or equivalent work experience.

  • Demonstrate progressive responsibilities in media production.

  • Preferably two years in a supervisory role in a live broadcast environment. 

  • Strong working knowledge in Studios, Remotes, Digital, and Operations in a Media environment

  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high pressure, breaking news environment. 

  • Experience executing production and operational initiatives with the ability to establish trust with stakeholders.
