What you will do

Performs all MRI techniques and examinations according to the procedures determined by the Radiologists.

Maintains constant attention to patients assigned to the technologist for examination

Produces optimal MRI images for the purpose of diagnostic interpretation

Selects proper technical factors, coils, restraining devices and operated MRI equipment as directed

Provides protection in accordance with prescribed MR safety standards to ensure the wellbeing of patients, hospital personnel, general public and self while performing any duties

Identifies and archives patient's images. Maintains records of exams.

Responsible for proper identification on images including patient identification and patient demographics

Maintains appropriate records of examinations and MRI procedure log.

Maintains the integrity and efficiency of the Radiology Information System

Administration

Conducts self in a professional manner

Subject to on-call status including weekends and holidays.

Refers any unresolved problems relating to staffing, morale, work methods, discipline and other activities to the MR Team Leader Technologist

Promotes professionalism, continuing education and staff development

Participates in the formal in-service program provided for Radiology Complex

Responds promptly and positively to patients, families, associates, and all others in a respectful, courteous and confidential manner.

Always maintains identifiable/professional attire, including using nametags and ID cards.

Answers telephone calls within three rings 95% of the time.

Respects confidentiality of patients and co-workers in all circumstances.

Greets patients, families, co-workers and others in a calm, professional, friendly manner; makes eye contact, initiates conversation, and identifies self by name.

Follows hospital and department procedures and policies.

Attends mandatory sessions/meetings/in-services

Adheres to attendance policies and procedures.

Demonstrates knowledge and application of CHOP and Department policies and procedures.

Reviews policy and procedure updates from managers and CHOP

Provides or facilitates a clean, safe, quiet and secure environment for all.

Reports any incident that seems unusual/deficient to supervisor and/or Security.

Corrects and/or reports unsafe, unsecured or unclean environment to supervisor and/or Environment l, Health and Safety, or Facilities departments.

Always takes breaks away from patient and family areas.

Keeps self and work area neat and organized.

Participates collaboratively in staff meetings, committees, projects and teams to resolve conflicts and meet institutional goals.

Attends staff meetings as requested. Is recognized as a participant or committee member by peers. Completes assignments on time.

Reviews and contributes to the attainment of departmental and CHOP goals annually.

Participates and contributes to team projects.

Demonstrates knowledge of constant quality improvement values and participates in CHOP and departmental Quality Improvement initiatives

Identifies own learning needs and obtains necessary education to meet requirements of position

Attends mandatory education programs.

Documents and reports all necessary education and training.

Other shifts as assigned

Applies education and training to daily work to enhance job knowledge and skills.

Reviews learning needs with supervisor to set individual education and learning goals annually.

Follows CHOP and departmental cost control standards: monitors usage of supplies and equipment to eliminate or minimize waste and/or misuse.

Demonstrates knowledge and ability to render age appropriate care and services based on patients' developmental needs.

All other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications

High School Diploma / GED Required

Technical Diploma Radiology or MRI Program Required

Licenses and Certifications

MRI Technician (MR) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - within 12 months - Required and

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 12 months - Required

Experience Qualifications

Candidates will be hired accordingly into job level that corresponds with experience

Level I - Prior experience not required

Level II - At least three (3) years experience required

Level III - At least five (5) years experience required

Skills and Abilities

Basic knowledge of all forms of MRI Imaging

Basic knowledge of information systems for transferring data

Basic knowledge of Radiology Information Systems

Works independently of supervision

Good organizational skills

Excellent phone etiquette and communication skills

Provides Family Centered Care

Integrates knowledge and assessment of child and family (Age-Specific Competency)
