We’re excited to work with a climate justice organization that works on a wide range of environmental issues, including climate change, clean energy, conservation, and environmental justice. To advance these goals we engage in grassroots organizing, electoral engagement, and public education. We are looking for a Remote Organizing Manager who will lead a team of organizers in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers for climate justice activities in Pennsylvania. This position involves a mix of remote and in-person work.
Remote Organizer Manager Qualifications/Requirements
At least one cycle in a staff or volunteer management role
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly-directive, top-down management environment
Passion for winning progressive policies and electing champion candidates.
Ability to use or learn to use remote work tools (Slack, Google Apps, Zoom, etc.)
Experience writing clear and concise instructional materials
Willing to run multiple Zoom trainings per week
Ready to work nights and weekends when volunteers are generally available
Overtime work during the final month (up to 60 hours per week)
Travel October-Election day to support on-the-ground efforts
Cell phone with hotspot
Laptop and internet access that can support online video and other web-based platforms
Remote Organizer Manager Duties
Manage the remote organizers
Create detailed program timelines and manage to tight program deadlines
Support national climate group political director by aggregating program data, regularly reporting on program milestones and producing background materials for senior staff
Work with national climate group's data team to create reports and lists of volunteers and voters
Work with national climate group's digital team to create an email calendar
Train volunteers remotely to write letters to voters in battleground states
Create well-organized trackers and staff workflows in Google Sheets
Learn to do admin-side tasks in Scale to Win's texting and calling platforms
Text volunteers
During the final month of the election train volunteers to knock on doors in Pennsylvania or Michigan
During the final month of the election complete regular canvassing shifts in Pennsylvania or Michigan alongside volunteers
Develop basic proficiency with Mobilize
Write volunteer-facing guides, emails, and other instructional materials
