Senior Contracts Manager / Director – Defense and Government Contracts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Compliance:

  • Guide the strategic direction of the contracts department, aligning with both company and Department of Defense (DoD) objectives. Ensure that all contract activities adhere to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other relevant regulations.

  • Contract Management and Negotiation:

  • Oversee the complete lifecycle of contracts, including proposal development, negotiation, execution, compliance, and closeout. Lead high-stakes negotiations with government entities, contractors, and vendors to achieve favorable terms while minimizing risk. Manage various contract types, including Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF), Cost-Plus-Incentive-Fee (CPIF), Cost-Plus-Award-Fee (CPAF), Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee Level of Effort (CPFF-LOE), Time and Materials (T& M), and Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP).

  • Risk Management and Team Leadership:

  • Identify potential risks in contracts and formulate strategies to mitigate them. Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of contract professionals, promoting a collaborative and growth-focused work environment.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in contract management within the Department of Defense (DoD) or a comparable federal setting.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Contract Management, Law, or a related field is required.

  • A Master’s degree or Juris Doctor (J.D.) is preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other federal contracting guidelines.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, particularly in managing and developing teams.

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency with contract management software and the Microsoft Office Suite.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Details and Benefits:

  • Location: Philadelphia, PA – Navy Yard area.

  • Schedule: Hybrid arrangement with core hours from 8 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Thursday in-office, and Fridays remote.

  • Position Type: Full-time, Exempt.

  • Compensation: Competitive salary of $150,000 - $200,000+ per year, commensurate with experience.
