SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Accounting Analyst position will be primarily responsible for the processing, compliance and audit of all employees related travel and business expense reimbursements ensuring accurate recording, tax treatment and analysis of all transactions. This position would also provide support for the processing, reporting, compliance, tax review and audit of all other Accounts Payable transactions including invoices, credits, and payment transactions. The Accounting analyst will interact with all levels of the Amtrak organization as this department provides financial and administrative support to all areas of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Invoice and expense processing, compliance/review, and analytics. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all fiscal closing schedules, identifying inaccuracies, inefficiencies or delays noted throughout the process, making recommendations and corrections. * Implementation and development of accounting controls and procedures that are compliant with corporate policies. * Assists the Manager Accounts Payable with the annual audit by providing documentation and reporting for Accounts Payable testing. * Performs a critical review & takes corrective action to accurately validate financial transactions in accordance with financial requirements and within strict fiscal timelines. * Manages customer relationships with Amtrak departments, all Amtrak vendors, and internal and external audit inquiries. * Demonstrated skills in developing, implementing, and managing programs/initiatives. * Create and produce reports for fiscal, audit & management requirements. * Performs a critical review of invoice entry processes into the corporate business systems ensuring compliance with company policies & accounting controls. * Creates reports & analyzes all invoice data for month end and year end accrual preparation for corporate financials & yearly audit engagements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. * Experience in maintaining processes and business systems, including the adherence to relevant policies and procedures. * Experience with SAP. * Experience with Concur and Cognos reporting. * Accounting, finance, or other business experience * Ability to communicate with multiple levels of management within Amtrak. * Strong organizational and task management skills * Strong oral and written communications skills with the ability to communicate will all levels of management. * Ability to work independently in a high-volume production environment. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Proficiency with integrated accounting systems, PC applications and Microsoft Office applications; including Excel, Power Point and Word. * Strong organizational skills * Demonstrated skills in analyzing data, interpreting policy, and reporting quantitative data for business use and action. * Frequently learns new tasks and processes, both complex and simple, to maintain effectiveness in position. * Demonstrated experience in oral communications, ease in a presentation/training environment and writing within and outside of the organization. * Ethical, reliable, responsible, and dependable, flexible and a self-starter.

COMMUNICATIONS AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary/hourly range is$78,600-$101,844.Pay is based on several factors includingbut not limited to education, work experience, certifications,internal equity,etc.Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider ageo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offeradditional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees,including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual andcompany performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/orlong-term incentive plan compensation.
