Job Summary

Comcast 5G Core technology team is looking for a passionate “Lead 5G packet core architecture and automation SME”. Our 5G core technology team owns 5G core architecture, design, and full automation realization. Today, Comcast’s unique DSDS architecture is at the forefront of mobile data offload services in the telecom industry. As Comcast mobile packet core has moved to the true cloud-native architecture, the candidate will be responsible for 5G core network function architecture and automation design over the AWS EC2 cloud. Therefore, the ideal candidate shall have the following major tenets: • Mobile technology leader: must have 15+ years of extensive experiences in Mobile packet core product design, development and deployment. • AWS cloud expert: expert knowledge in cloud architecture and services for Telco applications; Hands-on experiences in cloud mobile core design, deployment and automation frameworks. • Great team player: must be a great team player and be able to collaborate with multiple Comcast XFN teams to tackle the toughest problems in our industry in order to timely deliver the 5G core NFs over the AWS cloud. • Great technical team leader: able to foster a high performing and cohesive team in a fast-paced working environment; Also provide mentorship to our teammates. • Excellent communicator: must be able to communicate fluently and clearly for complex technical issues to senior management teams and broader XFN teams. • Diversity Champion: Be able to create an inclusive working environment and be diversity champion.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading and collaborating with both the 5G NF vendor and the AWS teams to design 5G CNFs architecture and develop automation frameworks over the AWS EC2 cloud.

  • Managing the project timelines and driving innovative design solutions that will lead the successful deployment of the 5G core onto the AWS cloud infra on time with high quality.

  • Defining system requirements for 5G core CNF LCM and operation automation over the AWS cloud.

  • Delivering product solutions according to the defined requirements.

  • Collaborating with Comcast XFN teams and stakeholders to drive innovative product solutions for cloud security and operation efficiency.

  • Architecting solutions utilizing AWS EC2 cloud services, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies.

  • Driving 5G core CNF design over AWS EC2 cloud for optimal performance and cost efficiency.

  • Developing security best practices to ensure the integrity and compliance of the 5G core infrastructure and containerized environments.

  • Lead 5G core CNF application design over AWS cloud and optimize for comcast 5G core deployment models.

  • Develop automation frameworks for each future 5G core and AWS infra SW upgrades

  • Extend the automation framework designs to support Cloud RAN automation.

  • Staying updated with the latest advancements in AWS services, Kubernetes, and containerization technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on our 5G core network functions.

  • Working closely with the deployment and operation teams to support resolving field infrastructure and application related issues.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to identify automation and optimization opportunities across the infrastructure and network function deployment processes.

  • Collaborating with the product management team to gather business and product requirements and translate them into technical designs and specifications.

  • Documenting development artifacts for 5G packet core CNFs over the AWS EC2 cloud.

  • Developing and delivering knowledge transfer/training sessions related to 5G SA core architecture, feature capabilities, AWS cloud infrastructure, 5G NF LCM, security and account management to the broader packet core development and operation teams.

  • Timely and effective communications with all stakeholders.

  • Travel Expectation : 25%

Qualifications

  • 15+ years’ experience in mobile packet core network development and operations in various capacities (e.g., testing, project management, development, product management, etc.)

  • Nokia packet core knowledge is preferred

  • Expert knowledge in cloud infra-architecture and development,

  • With telco cloud implementation experiences is must

  • Hands-on experience or knowledge in AWS services:

  • Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), subnetting and security groups

  • Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Elastic Network Interfaces and Auto Scaling Groups

  • VPC Networking: Direct Connect, VPC Peering, AWS Route 53, Transit Gateway and others

  • Container services (ECS, EKS, ECR, github)

  • Deployment Automation with both AWS and Nokia CI/CD pipelines

  • Able to develop product artifacts (e.g., CIQ, Network diagrams, call flow documents, Deployment Procedures, MOPs, Manifest files, Helm charts etc.).

  • Knowledge of or Professional experience with the following: 5G packet core network, 5G associated protocols, 5G call flows, DPDK, NETCONF/YANG, 5G NF LCM.

  • Prior experience with creating and communicating RCA’s (root cause analysis),

  • Strong team player who can collaborate in a matrix organization with an open, engaging, and inclusive approach to work; communication is essential,

  • Ability to thrive in a High-Stress environment while working with Comcast XFN teams, Vendors and Leadership teams.

  • Conveying a strong sense of urgency, responsiveness, follow-through, and successfully managing outcomes are critical to success in this role.

  • Ability to grasp in depth on technology issues and to drive resolutions.

  • Ability to span departments to assist in resolving network event outages.

  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and systems.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation.

  • experiences in software development and hands-on experience in automation tool developments are preferred,

  • Knowledge about SDLC, Agile and Software Engineering Methodology is preferred,

  • Demonstrate technology leadership skills across projects.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Management and/or Computer Science is required.

  • With business administration training (e.g., business development, product management) is preferred.

Salary:

National Pay Range: $132,397.30 USD-$310,306.16 USD
